Following the cancellation of two projects in the works, The Coalition began to fully focus on Gears 6.
This adds to Grubb's twitter post from yesterday, in which he said that the Canadian studio would begin working at full speed on Gears 6 in 2022. Only now the canceled games seem to be two and no longer just one.
Grubb stated that The Coalition was working on two projects at one time during the Game Mess Mornings Twitch show, as well as assisting with Halo Infinite's development and collaborating with Epic on a tech demo for The Matrix: The Awakening written in Unreal Engine 5.
Grubb was unable (or unwilling) to provide precise information on the two alleged games that The Coalition had canceled internally, but repeated that one of the two was a minor project, and suggested that the interruption of work was partly due to the recent spate of layoffs by Microsoft, which would have also affected the Canadian studio.
Grubb said on the air that the Coalition canceled a minor project, as well as another one, resulting in two canceled games. All of this is reflected in Microsoft's layoffs, which have affected The Coalition in some ways. The studio will now concentrate fully on Gears 6, according to the title.
