What is the reason for this? In case you didn't know, the Galaxy S23 smartphones increased by 13% in Portugal. And of course, the Euro vs. Dollar was one of the reasons.
Yes, the depreciation of the euro against the dollar made life difficult for us in 2022. Many items increased in price as a result of this phenomenon, which we saw more on the fuel side, since the vast majority of oil is negotiated in Dollars, and for this reason, Europe, forced to buy a larger quantity, with a weaker currency.
However, this effect hasn't been verified! At the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, the euro appreciated significantly. After all, at this moment, 1€ = 1.10$.
Yet corporations continue to use the same excuse, and as if that weren't enough, the increases we've seen in the past aren't going away now... That's the classic of any crisis with a lot of inflation in the mix...
