Sam Lake, Remedy's creative director, said to talk about Alan Wake 2, which is the biggest project Remedy has ever undertaken in 13 years, in various ways.
Lake continued: "We never gave up Alan Wake. There was always the desire to return to this character, there were other stories to tell, and the characters and the setting are too precious to be forgotten." Remedy's director says the character and setting are "unique."
Given the years since the first chapter, the possibility of reuniting with Alan Wake 2 may have not always been certain. However, Remedy continued to think about a comeback.
The story of Alan Wake 2 has been continually processed, according to Lake, "it has expanded and evolved over the years," as well as the team's new original projects.
The idea that all Remedy games might be part of a single universe was developed progressively, and then Control's AWE DLC literally took a simple easter egg to the level of a full-fledged crossover.
"After Control, all the pieces fell right together," according to Lake, paving the way for future projects. "When you continue to pursue a dream," says Alan Wake 2, "you make a constant effort to maintain it active and thrilling."
Alan Wake 2 is planned for release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S for the first time since it was released at The Game Awards 2022.
