Recap of Season 1 Episode 3 of The Last of Us
Tess sacrificed herself to get Ellie and Joel out of dodge and on their way. Ellie reminds him that this was not her fault but that she needed something along the way. They are on a five-hour hike, and Ellie is like any other kid asking about 1.3 million questions, which frustrates Joel.
Joel left some things at a gas station, and Ellie falls into one of the infected, trapped, and stabs him. As they walk, Joel sees a plane that crashed at some point, and Joel explains more or less what happened. Next, we see a boatload of people gathered together in a city in September 2003. Bill (Nick Offerman) is quite a savage.
Bill is a video gamer, and his personality is similar to what we see from the beginning. He was a self-starter who built an entire section of a town that protected himself. He had a strong connection with Joel and Tess by smuggling items into his area.
In 2007, when Bill was still living in his little town, he came across Frank, who asks him to prepare dinner for him. After the meal, Frank is about to leave, but they kiss. Three years later, in 2010, Frank storms out of the house, angry at Bill.
Frank is angry that he won't make friends in this empty world, and has made a friend over the radio. Tess and Joel are warm and friendly, and Joel offers suggestions on things to help around the neighborhood, such as security measures, and more. After the meal, Frank shows some items he gave to Tess in exchange for a pistol.
As Joel expected, poachers have finally discovered Bill and Frank's location, leading to a lengthy gun battle. Bill, unfortunately, was shot during the fight.
Frank and Bill take plenty of medication, return to their bedroom, and pass away in a sweet moment between the couple. I admire both of them, but dedicating this episode to them was something I wasn't sure I liked the most.
Bill and Frank were both actors in the video game, but their relationship in the video game was completely different from what was shown in the series. Frank left Bill because he was upset with Bill's weird ways of handling things. Frank got bit and ended up hanging himself. There is no mention of Bill's passing.
Joel and Ellie are returning to Frank and Bill's house after he realizes that no one is there but a letter from Bill is left. She examines the parcel and advises her of the route. She must always remain positive about Joel's comments.
