Barotrauma is a cooperative sci-fi submarine simulator that has been plodding its way through the dark depths of Early Access for the past three years, but is now getting ready for a 1.0 release this spring. In this case, preparation means a "pre-patch" with "final fixes and changes" that the development team wanted to make prior to release day and the price increase two weeks later.
The most significant changes in this patch for many players are the reworked poisons and status effects, according to the developers. Some mods will be broken due to these changes, although they expect that the creators of these mods will be able to remediate the issue prior to the release of version 1.0.
The improvements to poisons appear to be significant: they may now be used on monsters, and the effect of poisoning is becoming more varied.
Barotrauma will be priced on Steam in two weeks, on February 10th, according to the post. Steam is currently 80% off to "give everyone one last good chance to purchase the game before the release of 1.0." It is unknown what the new price of Barotrauma will be after the release.
