Square Enix has been hugely successful with HD-2D titles such as Octopath Traveler, Live A Live, and Triangle Strategy. Team Asano is already working on an updated version of Octopath Traveler as well as a remake of Dragon Quest 3, but they seem to have run out of ideas.

Triangle Strategy integrates a lot of twist-based gameplay, but all HD-2D games have remained consistent with the classic JRPG genre.
