According to the revelations from the Hollywood Reporter reporters, the Tomb Raider film and television series would also involve the creation of a new game that would be linked to the streaming giant's future Lara Croft-themed projects.
The anonymous sources identified by the Hollywood Reporter highlight how Amazon and dj2 Entertainment have agreed to the exclusive rights to develop and market "at least one video game in the Lara Croft series".
The game in question, specifying the 'deep throats' interviewed by the Californian magazine's reporters, should be linked to the events recounted in the new feature film and the Amazon Tomb Raider TV series.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the goal of the e-commerce and streaming business would be to create a Tomb Raider franchise that allows long-time fans and newcomers to the series to immerse themselves in Lara Croft's adventures with films, television series, and, indeed, video games.
It would therefore be a complementary project to the one Crystal Dynamics is working on with Tomb Raider Next, whose development seems to be going smoothly, as per the software house itself and, more recently, according to reports about the official presentation in 2023.
