The game Not For Broadcast, developed by NotGames, and its publisher tinyBuild, will be released on Xbox One, Series S/X, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on March 23.
The first expansion for the game, Live & Spooky DLC, allows you to watch (and possibly supernaturally) a special broadcast on a TV near you, is included with the dark comedy indie hit (2023 IGF Grand Prize nominee).
Not For Broadcast takes players into the unhinged world of live British television in a somewhat unusual alternative 1980s. Players take on the role of editor of the National Nightly News program on Channel One. Choose the perfect angle, drown out any swearing (or dangerous ideas), and occasionally make minor editorial decisions that may or may not alter the narrative.
With Channel One's proprietary editing panel interface, you can switch video streams with a single button, remove static with a simple tuner interface, and select the right sponsor's tapes to show during breaks. You want to keep your audience on your toes.
Players will be invited back to Channel One's editing room for a fresh special replay broadcast. This time, news anchor Patrick Bannon and his crew travel to a long-lost site owned by his late father. This is a clear lie. There are no deep, dark secrets to divulge.
