Phil Spencer admits in an interview that he and the Xbox would have liked more games if Starfield, Redfall, Forza Motorsport, or Fable were released in 2022. However, the Xbox CEO expects the situation to improve in 2023.
"In 2022, we didn't deliver enough," says the author.
Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft's Xbox division, speaks quite openly about the mistakes made over the previous year. Not enough new games would have been released, and there was nothing to be seen of big triple-A exclusives like Starfield or Redfall.
"Our promise to our fans is that we should continue to produce excellent games for players to download on our platform, and we certainly haven't delivered enough of them in 2022."
Spencer immediately raises the anthems for the coming year 2023: Everything should change, and the whole Xbox team is therefore very committed. This year is one of a series of games that the company "feels really good about."

A few days ago, the Xbox Developer Direct took place, providing a lot of new information about Xbox games, including release dates. Another big surprise was with Hi-Fi Rush, a game that was released on the same day as Game Pass.
Spencer is certain: "I felt really good about the games that we showed." And then also knowing that Starfield is a game we will highlight in our own show in 2023, with a lot of momentum".
"To show great games, to demonstrate the gameplay for these games, and to name specific release dates, I think that was important so early this year", says the Xbox boss.

Microsoft is still working on a billion-dollar agreement with Activision, the makers of Call of Duty. In the first half of the year, there should also be new information about Starfield.
