Guerrilla Games, the creator of Horizon Forbidden West, revealed that a multiplayer version of the post-apocalyptic franchise is in the works, and we may see how it might look like in the future. A user who goes by BirdonWheels has shared footage from a very early stage of a planned multiplayer mode of Horizon Forbidden West.
The original post has been deleted by moderators, but the video remains available. This is without doubt the most polarizing thing in there: the in-development art style, which is more akin to Fortnite's cartoonish aesthetic than Horizon's more realistic appearance. Nevertheless, it gives credence to the claims about the multiplayer game.
The footage also shows a wide array of character skins, including original, healing, damage, and lure, although there is little evidence that the game's main gameplay ideas are there, as evidenced by the presence of hostile machines and bandits.
Logos and changes to the pause menu demonstrate Horizon Forbidden West's importance. As such, there is no assurance that anything from this leaked multiplayer mode will survive the transition to a new project.
Horizon Forbidden West will get a DLC expansion in April, and a VR spin-off Horizon Call of the Mountain will be released alongside PSVR 2 next month.
