Masahiro Sakurai discussed the COVID epidemic on the team that developed the Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC content. He shared this information through his YouTube channel, "Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games," through which he has been sharing his thoughts and experiences about video game design.
The SSBU development team had successfully completed the first Fighters Pass, and they were on the verge of releasing a second volume. Pyra and Mythra were added as two different fighters, doubling the team's workload.
Check out the below video:
Sakurai and the Super Smash Bros Ultimate development team were forced to relocate their workspace to their own homes, which had several benefits, but also significant challenges. These included workers not having the appropriate office chairs and tables, or not having the appropriate internet quality to perform work. Likewise, Sakurai explained that he had to perform battle tests online due to the lack of a local environment.
Sakurai estimated that the COVID epidemic resulted in the development team working much slower than they normally would. Sora Ltd. decided to respond to the workers' needs by providing them with the equipment they needed to work comfortably.
