Crypto miners are painting video cards to sell as new ...

The crypto miners paint the video cards they used to make cryptocurrencies appear newer and resell them for a higher price. Iskandar Souza and Paulo Gomes have condemned the practice.

According to Gomes, there are clear signs of overuse of a video card for mining, particularly screws and missing labels or stickers. Other than these, users may notice a slight yellowish tint on the memory cards and the GPU itself.

The miners conceal all of these things as much as possible.

The use of used video cards was also confirmed by the Brazilian Youtube channel TecLab, which discovered that the AFOX brand no longer makes them. What made him suspicious was the difference in color between different GPUs from the same manufacturer.

The objective here isn't to forbid people from buying used video cards, but rather to avoid getting scammed into overpaying for heavily used equipment.
