Changes to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 are highlighted, including UI, audio issues, and ...

Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 will be released on February 15, but Infinity Ward and Raven Software have now given us a sneak peek of some of the season 2 changes that players may expect from Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.

The following are not the entire patch notes, and this does not include all of the new maps, modes, and other goodies that will be revealed in the coming weeks as part of Season 2.

Global Changes

Stability and Crashes

We are still striving to improve the game's overall stability and performance, as well as reducing crashes across all platforms and titles.

Expect the Season 02 patch notes to reveal further specific bug fixes and changes before February 15th.

Audio (Global)

According to data, some PC players may be experiencing audio difficulties due to discrepancies in the number of channels they are outputting. Please ensure that Windows and in-game audio settings are correct in accordance with your listening environment.

A recent investigation into player complaints regarding audio revealed a previously unknown vulnerability in the game. The occlusion mechanism is determined by the material that an object or structure is made of, mostly based on its thickness and how it blocks the whole frequency of the sound. For example, a stapler or a pile of rags on the ground may have occluded the sound like it was behind a wall, making the sound more difficult for a player to hear.

Season 02 will see a number of UI/UX improvements in order to enhance the overall in-game menu flow. These include:

  • Improved navigation and organization of Camo menu
  • More polished Social tab, including improved channel swapping and player muting
  • New “My Bundles” screen
  • Quick equip items from Battlepass, My Bundles, and Store
  • Reticle previews in Store and Gunsmith
  • Improved clarity of attachment blocking logic in Gunsmith
  • And many more bug fixes

A recent enhancement has also been implemented:

  • Instance speed of Recent Players in menu
  • Status refresh of Friends

In our Season 02 Patch Notes, further information and further information will be published.

Balance in weapons

We'll be balancing Weapons for Season 02 like any other seasonal or mid-season update, as well as in the upcoming Season 02 patch notes. Below, we're discussing some changes to armor that will allow for more consistent gameplay in Warzone 2.0.

Battle Royale is a game that combines elements from two separate games.

The Gulag

With the start of Season 02, 1v1 Gulag will be restored, replacing the original Warzone overtime mechanic — the Domination-style flag control point — for players.

Find out more about the Gulag's return right here.

The Cash Economy

We are increasing the lowest value of Cash piles from ground loot to $800 and from Cash Registers to $500 (previously $100 minimum).

Cash can be acquired throughout Al Mazrah via ground loot, containers, and white Stronghold Supply Boxes, but it cannot be found in basic or legendary Supply Boxes.

In the pursuit of resources, this redistribution should result in a quicker, more consistent gameplay.

Loot and Inventory are two separate areas of activity.

According to what we announced last week, we're moving away from loot windows/menus to floating loot, which will now be available in all containers in the world, similar to supply boxes.

This modification is intended to speed up gameplay by reducing the amount of time spent navigating the interface and re-increasing players back in the action.

Loadouts are a common problem.

Season 02 will introduce customizable Perk Packages! This feature will begin with a somewhat reduced pool of available Perks, which we may gradually reintroduce over time. We want to navigate this particular feature as carefully as possible, ensuring that all available Perks are of adequate utility and remain viable/balanced options.

Primary Weapons will continue to be available at Buy Stations, but at an increasingly reasonable price point, allowing Players to pursue their most desired Weapons at a faster rate. On rare occasions, players may stumble upon one while looting in Al Mazrah. A second Loadout Drop Public Event has been added, which means the drops will now take place on the first and fifth Circles each match.

Other Changes...

Vests with three plates

All Players will now wear a 3-Plate Vest in Battle Royale combat engagements, as part of this standardization. This will provide a more reliable experience from the start.

The movement is on the upswing.

Players will be able to burst through doors while plating as they would if they were sprinting in Season 02, as a result of a minor increase in movement speed while plating, which will allow them to cover faster in the moments of need.

Purchase Stations at Lowe's.

We've changed our approach in order to make Buy Stations and their goods more accessible; spawn locations have been changed, and spawns will remain constant across the map, and Loadout Drop Markers have unlimited stock at all stations. As always, we will continue to monitor the global balance of our economy and the availability of resources.

Strongholds are a viable alternative to the traditional gameplay experience, for those who are willing to take the risk of robbing Players of their rewards. Season 02 will introduce fresh changes to A.I. combatant damage.

The Daily Mail has announced that it will be updated when it comes to the New York Times.

Enemy Tuning

Season 01's AI in the DMZ was challenging, but the upswing of difficulty was often sudden, with some players becoming frustrated. We've made several adjustments to the types of AI spawning, the number of AI spawning, the accuracy of AI at range, and more. All of this should provide a challenging but manageable play-space that requires player respect of enemy combatants in the DMZ.

Spawn Points are a great way to get a lot of sleep.

Depending on gameplay data, we are fine tuning some infil points across Al Mazrah to improve the early match experience. Starting at a point where your squad feels isolated or without loot and contract opportunities is not the best experience. These adjustments should improve spawn points across the mode.

Tuning a Mission Difficulty

As the Tiers advance, data and feedback suggest that the Faction Mission difficulty ramp was excessive for many players, and that the demanding scale made unlocking the second Insured Weapon Slot (completing all Tier 3 missions) a challenge for all players.

If you lose your items and Contraband Weapons in the course of Season 2, we understand that crashes are particularly detrimental. We are committed to increasing stability. Stay tuned for further information.

Seasonal Refresh

Season 02 will include a complete overhaul of your current Faction mission progress and a inventory (Contraband and Keys) reset. We will cover all of the essential information ahead of Season 02 in an upcoming blog.

Season 02 will have a new Exclusion Zone so players will have a third option when deployed in the DMZ. New missions will include Building 21 as well as new missions. We suggest you prepare for infiltration first!

Audio (MP)

One form of our audio occlusion system remained off in Multiplayer until the game was launched. At this time, however, it was not the newer and more advanced system. We are glad to announce that it will be back online when Season 02 launches.

Perk Balancing

The timing of bonus perks, especially the Ghost Perk, has been criticized by many, especially as this would create a serious imbalance in the perk system. For Season 02, we've increased the rate at which the bonus and the ultimate perks are earned (reduces bonus perk cost by 50% and ultimate by 25%), which will allow Players to get Ghost earlier in matches.

Balancing Weapons

Season 02's weapon balancing includes several new weapons. Stay tuned for more information on weapon balancing in the upcoming Season 02 patch notes.

Hardcore is a tough sport.

Hardcore mode will be reinstated in MWII as announced last week. The Tier 1 mode will be replaced by Hardcore. We are very excited for fans to have this franchise favorite back in the mix for Season 02.
