Recap and review of Episode 11 of The Interest of Love K-Drama ...

The Worst Birthday Present

Su-young recalls previous interactions with Sang-su in episode 11. She's also a little disappointed that she forced him to make second opinions back then. Back when... she decided to reject him?

Sang-su admits that he loves Su-yeong after the ice rink kiss and that he is willing to take the risk to disclose his true feelings to her outside the rink. She is stunned and confused as to how to deal with this.

Mi-gyeong discovers that her father was instrumental in her advancement. It was to do with her current status in life... and now she understands why. She desperately seeks help from her boyfriend, who is busy drinking with Su-yeong, who turns into The Lying Game.

Su-yeong eventually admits that she preferred him first, and Mi-gyeong is different. She refuses to accept Sang-su's refusal to commit and decides to call him and Su-yeong constantly. They both pick up when they're too busy driving home.

Su-yeong gets a visit from Jong-hyeon, who gives her food as a thank you. He also promises to repay her after her father has had surgery and is recovering shortly. She apologizes to Jong-hyeon but it's just as harsh.

This whole affair is teetering on a precarious knife edge, especially since the secrets are bound to leak out at some point. For the time being, it slips into the morning meeting at work and it's super awkward between everyone. The first contact comes from a trip to a sub-branch that needs some help for three months.

Su-yeong is generous and encourages them to recruit more staff. Sang-su is very clear about wanting to go and almost raises his hand (which Mi-gyeong notices) until Gil-pyeong steps up and volunteers. Although he's not happy with this, Su-yeong is the most experienced in this field.

Sang-su and Si-yeong overhear Su-yeong being a shady pig, so Mi-gyeong calls them off and kisses Sang-su. He refuses to reciprocate and instead asks Mi-gyeong for a break so they can talk. Sang-su is chill at work the rest of the day.

Su-yeong tells Jong-hyeon that he is a bad boyfriend and not very trustworthy. He visits him outside and Su-yeong meets Seon-Jae for the first time. The same Seon-jae whom Jong-hyeon was talking to during the date.

Su-yeong and Sang-su are more determined than ever in what they desire... but there's a problem. Gyeong-pil sees them together and contemplates what to do... but Mi-gyeong just misses Sang-su who originally said he'd be leaving to pick her up... but actually showed up.

Sang-su goes back to work later on and confronts Mi-gyeong, once more, confirming that they need to talk. Mi-gyeong refuses to accept it and walks away, refusing to confront Sang-su's accusations.

Mi-gyeong shows up to meet Sang-su's mother and admits she's the one who requested the security deposit. Instead, she refuses the offer and decides to reconcile everything with the landlady.

Seok-hyun's mistress and his wife's cheating are big news across the bank. All district managers are aware of what's happening and how the story goes. Both Su-yeong and Sang-su are affected by half the guys, who believe she's the mistress.

Sang-su refuses to entertain him, but he does tell Sang-su to make sure neither woman gets too hurt. Unfortunately, Mi-gyeong invited Su-yeong and Jong-hyeon to her birthday party.

The dinner is going to be served, but this dinner is unbelievably awkward. Mi-gyeong reveals how long Sang-su and Su-yeong have known each other. As things get tense, Sang-su decides to speak to Mi-gyeong in private.

Things take an awful turn as they drive back, inevitably. She refuses to hear him out, especially on her birthday. She pulls the car over and starts to feel ill by the side of the road, pointing out to Sang-su that Jong-hyeon and Su-yeong are actually married.

Jong-hyeon calls to Su-yeong at the bus stop and asks: "Do you really like me? Do you like me?"

Sang-su to not only break up with Mi-gyeong, but to do it on her birthday of all days, right after an awkward meal with Jong-hyeon and Su-yeong, is beyond my comprehension.

Gyeong-pil revealed to Sang-su that Mi-gyeong had gone through a messy divorce before.

If the Seok-hyun situation is anything to go by here, it's very clear that this will happen at the bank. Su-yeong may have the conviction to break up with Jong-hyeon as well, but I'm sure she may not. The whole situation with Sang-su will become big news at the branch.

Everything here has been simmering for a while, and now we're at a halt. This tense drama will absolutely erupt in the next episodes.
