Is Season 2 Episode 5 of The Bad Batch connected to Fallen Order? We discuss the possibility of a connection between the series and the game.

The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 5 offered a long-forgotten historical artifact to the galaxy, with Kevin Kiner's musical score alluding to the franchise. The tomb they discover is packed with booby traps and dangerous creatures, and the Bad Batch and Phee activating a gigantic mech.

The creators of this mech may be new to Star Wars, and while that is a possibility, it's also possible that they are already known. The Zeffo is an ancient species known for constructing elaborate burials across the galaxy using automatons.

In the final scene, a surprisingly different creature is introduced, one that attacks the Bad Batch. This creature shares many similarities with that found in the Nydak's Fallen Order.

Is Season 2 Episode 5 of The Bad Batch connected to Fallen Order?

The Bad Batch gets attacked and separated by a savage-looking creature around the middle of the large mech they find themselves on. The creature is tough to beat, due to its being large and able to run around quite rapidly and climb all over.

This creature is somewhat similar to a lesser or alpha Nydak, a semi-bipedal species that jumped about to avoid danger off the hook. The creature's tough hide made it a tough adversary. The alpha versions are much larger and more frightened.

The Nydak lived on the planet Dathomir, amid the ruins of the planet where it was the apex predator. Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis would encounter the both alpha and lesser versions when visiting the planet to find the Zeffo tomb of Kujet.

The Nydak appears to be found on another of the Kaldar Trinary System planets, which has had its surface razed and destroyed, making it the ideal habitat for the Bad Batch, who is apparently dissatisfied with the group's intentions.

Phee removes the treasure from the group once it has reached the summit of the mountain, causing the group to be able to return with their treasure. This produces a massive four-legged mech that begins walking around the planet. The main question surrounding this discovery is who created it.

The episode does not reveal how old the mech is, but it does provide some helpful information. Tech claims that the temple etchings are over 1,000 years old, but Phee believes it's old Skara Nal, a myth that dates back to the ancients, before the Jedi. The minerals in the rock, according to Tech, go back to the Republic.

What all of this implies isn't clear. When Tech says it predates the Republic, it's unclear whether he means the Republic as a whole or a specific iteration, for example, the High Republic or the Old Republic. The Old Republic may be a better fit, as it existed from 25,000 to 1,032 BBY.

This mech might have been built before 25,000 BBY if Phee can be trusted. The Zeffo, the Jedi Fallen Order, may have crafted this mech.

The Zeffo was a species that persisted in the galaxy thousands of years before the Jedi or Republic. They left the planet Zeffo and visited Dathomir, Kashyyyk, and Bogano and built elaborate tombs with many puzzles, like in this episode. They were force sensitive but fell to the dark side due to a corrupt leader called Kujet.

During Kujet's reign, he killed many opponents to his rule. This mech is possible to have been a tool to do that, as the Zeffo were known to construct other automata to guard their tombs (called Tomb Guardians). Both fire blue energy as their primary attack.

The Zeffo appears to be the most likely candidate, although we may never know who built this mech.
