Whoopi Goldberg isn't concerned about the Academy ignoring Till, and graciously acknowledged the film's absence from The View.
Goldberg, 67, began the episode of the show last year by expressing gratitude to the Oscar nominees for this year's Oscar, before revealing that Emmett Till's tale was not nominated.
"We just want to congratulate all the talented artists and filmmakers who were nominated this morning for Academy Awards," said the moderator and Till producer. "My film, Till, was not nominated, but we do want to congratulate all of the nominees because many of them have been here, and it's wonderful to say congratulations."
Alma Carthan, Emmett Till's grandmother, served as the film's producer.
Chinonye Chukwu, Till's director, is also criticizing the Academy in an Instagram post, praising the Oscar snub for their "unabashed disregard for Black women."
Chukwu stated, "We live in a world and work in industries that are so vexingly committed to upholding whiteness and perpetuating a deceitful attitude towards Black women."
"I am forever grateful for the greatest lesson of my life - regardless of any difficulties or obstacles, I will always have the ability to cultivate my own joy, and it is this joy that will remain one of my greatest forms of resistance."
Jimmy Kimmel will return to hosting duties for the 95th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, Mar. 12, 2023.
