Atlas Heche Tupper, Anne Heche's younger son, spoke out for the first time about his mother's passing in a brief statement to the Los Angeles Inquisitor on Tuesday, January 24. The 14-year-old said he misses his mother because she died at the age of 53 in a car accident.
Atlas touched upon how kind and understanding his mother was in a brief remembrance. "My mother always knew how to deal with a problem or assist a friend. She always knew what to do," he told the Inquisitor.
James, 57, reflected on the good times they had together and said her family would always remember her. "In that time, she was the very definition of light in our lives, always bringing joy, love, and energy."
In a statement shortly after Anne's death in August, Homer, a 20-year-old son who shared her ex Coley Laffoon, mourned his mother's passing. "I am left with a deep, wordless sadness," he said at the time.
The new tributes to Anne came on the same day as her memoir Call Me Anne was published posthumously. The actress described her children's births as well as her friendship with Ellen DeGenere as some of her greatest accomplishments.
Homer was involved in a legal battle against his mother's ex over control of her estate and guardianship of his younger half-brother after her mother's death. James filed papers opposing Homer as the general administrator of the actress' estate.
