Saber Interactive is releasing Horde Mode XL for its World War Z: Aftermath cooperative shooter, which promises 1,000 zombies on screen at the same time. The chaotic new mode takes a different approach to gameplay, except this time, there's a lot more undead to deal with.
Today's edition of Horde Mode Z includes new mutators, a revamped weapon progression system, and two new weapons: the sai knives and the tri-barrel shotgun, which shreds zombies from up close.
World War Z: Aftermath is now available for purchase natively on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for $39.99. The Deluxe Edition, featuring two bonus melee weapons (Sledgehammer and Dual Cleavers) as well as the Explorer Weapon Skins Pack, is also available for $49.99. PS4 and Xbox One owners may upgrade for free on their respective platforms, allowing for 4K and 60 fps viewing capabilities.
"I still like World War Z, it certainly does what it does fairly well, but it just doesn't do any of it very well," said the reviewer back in 2020. I think the lack of shooting is a good reason, but the Game of the Year Edition is a good one as it has plenty of content to keep things fresh for a while longer.
Since then, a lot has changed. Saber continues to improve their zombie shooter, and with the Horde Mode XL now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, there's plenty of reasons for players to resume playing.
