Apple's HomePod Mini's hidden temperature and humidity sensor has been turned on.

Apple has just unveiled the updated HomePod, which will be the company's primary smart speaker in 2023. The device is expected to be a smash hit when it launches in February, thanks to the S7 chipset, Matter compatibility, and a ton of advanced room monitoring equipment.

Apple has kept the temperature and humidity sensors off for years, but now that a new HomePod is coming out, the company has decided to turn the device on in its current line of Home Minis. You can configure different Apple Home automation functions by logging into your HomePod Mini.

The iOS 16.3 update that was released today should allow for the temperature/humidity sensor functionality as well as a number of security enhancements. Both the operation of Emergency SOS calls and the use of physical security keys as a component of two-factor authentication are updated.

The recently announced HomePod will go on sale for $299 on February 3, but the HomePod Mini is now available for $99.
