Rouhani Said Iran Does Not Seek Conflict In The Region
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, that Iran will never initiate a conflict in the Middle East region, but at the same time closely monitors the activity of the United States. This was reported on Saturday on the official website of the Iranian leader.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran closely monitors the actions of the Americans, but will never initiate strife and tension in the region," Rouhani said, commenting on the recent round of tension between the authorities of the two countries.
During the telephone conversation, the two leaders described relations between Iran and Qatar as positively developing, stressing the need to further strengthen bilateral ties.
The press service of the Fifth Fleet of the US Navy on April 15 issued an allegation that military boats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the armed forces of Iran) made dangerous maneuvers near several American warships in the Persian Gulf. After that, US President Donald Trump said that he had instructed the Navy to destroy any Iranian boats that create obstacles to American ships at sea.
