Is a film adaptation of Dead Space in the works? ...

Video game adaptations in film and series are growing in popularity among streaming services and filmmakers, and it appears sci-fi horror might soon be one of them.

Netflix, Amazon, and its affiliates have discovered the world of video games for themselves and are flooding us with new versions starting January 16th. There are also a number of other brands currently being converted to TV and film formats, such as Assassin's Creed, God of War, and many more.

Dead Space is also a potential candidate, and something appears to be in the works. In an interview with Variety, film legend John Carpenter divulged a similar finding.

Carpenter, a fan of games, has been linked to a film adaptation of the sci-fi horror film, although he refuses to be involved. But something is happening:

When asked about his possibility of directing a Dead Space movie, Carpenter replied: 'Oh, when are you doing it,' and everybody said, 'Oh, when are you doing it?' I'll not do it, since they've already hired another director. I'd also refuse to do it if someone asks me.'

The fact that you have already hired another director strikes an interest in particular. Is there a solution in the works? There may be worse options than the template... Until there is something official about this, we may enjoy the remake of the original game from January 27th.
