The White House Appointed A Trump Supporter To The State Department's European Bureau
The white house has decided to appoint Alexander Alden, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs, who has worked until now in the National Security Council (NSC). This was reported on Friday by Foreign Policy magazine.
According to him, Alden will oversee relations with the European Union in the new position. Referring to current and retired US officials, Foreign Policy calls Alain an ideological supporter of President Donald Trump. The publication links the current personnel appointment with a series of reshuffles in the US Administration after the failed attempt of the US Democratic party to remove the Republican trump from power as a result of impeachment.
The publication notes that Alden is a political appointee, not a career diplomat. Until recently, he was one of the Directors of the NSC, responsible for defense policy and strategy.
