Peru's Interior Minister Resigned After 1.3 Thousand COVID-19 Police Officers Were Infected
Peru's Interior Minister Carlos Moran has resigned, Spanish-language media reported on Saturday.
The reason for his resignation is not reported, but it is known that in Peru this week confirmed coronavirus infection in 1.3 thousand police officers.
General Gaston Rodriguez has been appointed as the new Interior Minister.
According to the Johns Hopkins University, leading statistics on coronavirus, 21 thousand cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in Peru, more than 600 people died.
Peru closed its borders to entry due to the coronavirus and in mid-March imposed a series of restrictions that will remain in effect until May 10.
