Detective Pikachu, a video game film starring Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Pikachu, is getting a sequel in the near future, at least. The video game it's based on
Jonathan Murphy, a senior game programmers at Creatures Inc., has disclosed on his LinkedIn profile that he and his team are working on one unannounced project and one that is nearing a release: Detective Pikachu 2. The sequel has no official release date and has yet to be brought up by the game's publisher.
According to the film's actor Justice Smith, the game might run after the first game's events.
