Fitbit will soon require Google Accounts for its wearable devices ...

It's unsurprising that since Google acquired Fitbit a while back, the American tech giant has slowly built the respected fitness brand into its own image, with continued integration of Google services and branding alongside Fitbit's hardware and software offerings. However, there have been some changes concerning the partnership between the two companies, particularly regarding how users will be able to use Fitbit devices and services.

Users will soon be required to use Fitbit services and devices. According to Fitbit's help page:

Given that Google now owns Fitbit, this all seems reasonable, although it does add a further layer of setup steps for existing Fitbit users. This new feature follows a recent discovery that shows a new user interface for the upcoming Versa 4 and Sense 2, which heavily borrows design elements from Wear OS.

Once this is confirmed, it will be interesting to see how Google and Fitbit implement this change.
