Square Enix has announced the sequel to Octopath Traveler to the world in the most recent Nintendo Direct, with a fairly soon-to-be released date of February next year. For good reason: the game is still in the early stages of development, as demonstrated in a Famitsu interview translated by Noisy Pixel.
As it's announced, the whole game is on the verge of being completed. This is somewhat unusual for Team Asano games, which are somewhat known at this point for releasing demos halfway through development that players can critique to help shape the final game. Maybe the absence of such a thing this time around is an indication of the team's confidence in direction. Maybe Square just went on a faster development route this time.
Octopath Traveler II is set to be released on February 24th, 2023. You may pre-order your copy on Amazon today.
