Olivia Wilde Discusses If Harry Styles Really Spit On Chris Pine At The Venice Film Festival: Watch ...

Olivia Wilde has broken her silence on one of the many rumors surrounding her upcoming film, Don't Worry Darling. During her Sept. 21 interview with Stephen Colbert, the 38-year-old director talked about "spitgate" in order to put the rumor that Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine during the screening at the Venice Film Festival on September 5 to rest. "He did not," she said with a huge smile on her face.

After a video of him sitting down next to Chris, 42, went viral, fans enraged and cried out in delight at the thought of returning to the stage.

A source close to the former One Direction member told HollywoodLife that he "100% did not spit on/at" the Star Trek actor. They added that the rumor "is a completely fabricated exchange" and any suggestion otherwise is a clear attempt to create drama that is simply not there.

The spitting rumors gave Harry and Olivia, who have been dating since the end of 2020, a laugh, but it is the only light-hearted rumors the cast has faced in recent weeks. The pair shared differing accounts about whether Olivia dismissed Shia LaBeouf, 36, who was originally cast in Harry's role, or whether he resigned. Olivia has also been criticized for having a conflicting relationship with Harry's co-host, Florence Pugh.

Olivia talked about the "soap opera" surrounding her film on September 21 and how she remains composed despite the drama. "I'm fortunate and there's people everywhere dealing with real health issues."
