Sker Ritual will now be available on Steam on the 13th of October, while also revealing what's planned for the game's content and update roadmap in the run-up to the full release in 2023.
Sker Ritual is a spiritual follow up to Maid of Sker, taking a completely different gameplay path from single-player horror to first-person co-op shooter. In Sker Ritual, players may go solo or group up in teams of four to defeat the Quiet Ones.
Wales Interactive is planning a series of content episodes following its release in Early Access. The first episode will air on 13th October, with all its objectives, trials, and a boss fight to take on. Next episodes will air in December, February, and April, each with a different map and gameplay elements.
"There's been some confusion in the community about whether or not the game will have a separate Story Mode," Wales Interactive says. Sker Ritual is a round-based cooperative FPS that isn't a replacement for a [hypothetical] Maid of Sker 2.
The Sker Pass will be available for free, as well as other content rewards such as masks, animated menu backgrounds, player icons, menu music, and weapon charms. Each episode will bring 25 new items to the store.
Early adopters will be eligible for a reduced price of $14.99 / £11.39 / €12.49, while themed cosmetic item bundles will also be available for $3.99 / £2.89 / €3.29.
Steve wrote in our review that Maid of Sker was enjoyable:
"Maid of Sker is a fantastic addition to the survival horror genre because it combines Welsh folklore with its own narrative. Its gameplay pattern of sneaking and hiding proves to be compelling and effectively manages to keep you in danger at all times."
