2K Games, the worldwide video game publisher responsible for BioShock, NBA 2K, and Mafia, has issued a statement confirming the 2K Games breach. The breach concern the company's help desk platform being breached by hackers and sending malicious links, as well as advising security measures for affected players.
Here's how it all works:
A third party accessed 2K's help desk platform earlier today and sent malicious links to players through its 2K Games support account.
2K has requested that players refrain from opening all emails and interacting with links from the 2K Games support account, and has advised players to take the following safety precautions if they have already been affected by these infected emails:
Until further notice, the support portal will be suspended.
2K has stated that it will never ask players and customers for their passwords or other personal information, thus advising against responding to such nasty requests from 2K and its support personnel.
Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games, is certainly having a rough week. Not only did 2K Games get hacked, but Rockstar Games was also compromised recently, with a hacker posting early gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto 6.
