Overwatch 2's Lead Hero Designer Leaves Blizzard ...

Geoff Goodman, the designer of Overwatch 2, has left Activision Blizzard.

Goodman was the lead hero designer behind a lot of Overwatch's most well-known characters, however he "made the decision to leave Blizzard earlier this year".

"We applaud Geoff for his a few years of service at Blizzard, and we need him to be all the best," the company said in an announcement to PC Gamer. "His ability to carry Overwatch's many hero roster by way of gameplay has been incredible, and the impact he's made on the Warcraft and Overwatch groups may last for years to come."

Goodman's involvement with Overwatch goes back to the very beginning. He was once again on board when it came to Blizzard's challenge Titan, an MMO that was ultimately transformed into the Overwatch we all know immediately.

In addition to designing new heroes, he probably contributed to the upcoming sequel, Overwatch 2.

Goodman's departure was never planned, although his departure came in the wake of several well-known departures following Blizzard's harassment and discrimination lawsuit. Given the company's shake-ups already, it is likely to come back as a blow.

Particularly since Overwatch 2 is less than a month from its launch on October 4, 2022.

With Overwatch's newcomers already in place, a lot of Goodman's work on the sequel might have been completed already. However, as a reside service recreation, it'll wish loads of new heroes within the coming months and years... and dropping Goodman isn't the best decision.

New Overwatch 2 heroes will be added to the sport's battle cross thanks to the brand-new battle cross system, which now includes unlockable characters in the free stage 50 level.
