Apple Offers New iOS 16.1 and iPadOS 16.1 Betas to Developers for Testing Here's What's New ...

Apple has seeded the second beta of iOS 16.1 and the third beta of iPadOS 16.1 updates to developers. (The two betas are on a different release schedule.) The updates come two days after the public release of iOS 16.

Developers may get the beta versions via the Apple Developer Center or over the air on devices with the correct configuration installed.

Apple has added a slight increase to the size of the battery icon in the second iOS 16.1 beta.

When an iPhone is charging, the battery percentage is now displayed above the time when the iPhone first starts charging and when it wakes from sleep during the charging process.

iOS 16.1 removes the need for users to approve every copy and paste attempt.

The issue causing the iPhone 14 Pro's rear camera to shake and vibrate has apparently not been addressed in the second iOS 16.1 beta. Apple has stated that the issue will be addressed in an iOS 16 update scheduled for next week, which is expected to be an iOS 16.0.2 release.

Other improvements to iOS 16.1 beta 2 are the following:

MacTrast and Apple both advise users not to install any betas on their daily driver iPhone or iPad. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing.
