Tomohiko Ito, the director of Aniplex, has published his first manga, Wonder X, which is being serialized on Kadokawa's Comic Newtype platform. Kuroyama, the artist, is the story's writer.

The story of Tomohiko Ito and Mekki Kuroyama's Wonder X manga is set in the first half of the 1990s and follows a group of children who meet a strange being in October's issue of the Newtype magazine.

Tomohiko Ito is best known for his work on A-1 Pictures' Sword Art Online and Sword Art Online II, both of which he directed. Erased was his first directorial debut, followed by The Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited and Occult Academy, which he directed two Sword Art Online films, Extra Edition and Ordinal Scale, and Hello World (with a screenplay by Mado Nozaki).

Mekki Kuroyama created and illustrated the Amnesia Joker manga adaptation, and has also worked as an artist for Isekaigaeri no Moto Yuusha Desu ga, Death Game ni Makikomaremashita.
