Let The Games Begin
Maddie is back to work after a storm going down and heading for a stadium, and it is all hands on deck to save the day. Athena rushes to save a young lady with an artificial heart and send her safely to her mother.
Lucy is being considered by Bobby as he and Athena go on a cruise. She is unable to fill in and take over the captain's responsibilities due to an ankle injury off duty. Buck is surprised that Bobby considered Lucy for the job.
Eddie understands why Buck is so adamant about this. The couch was purchased by Taylor four months ago, but Buck never intended to buy one again. This implies he is afraid of rekindling an old relationship.
Maddie needs a place to stay because her apartment has a leaky kitchen, and Chimney suggests that she stay at his house rather than in a hotel. Maddie believes that they should get back together because they love each other. "I don't know if Chimney wants to be with me," Maddie says. Josh suggests that she tell him what she wants.
Maddie is hesitant and they watch a movie and chat about the issue. As they discuss the movie one thing leads to another and they spend the night together. Chimney feels he isn't prepared for the awkward after-talk so he reports to work two hours early to avoid it. Bobby is confused about why Chimney is at work early and he tells him what the rules are, and Bobby suggests he do.
Maddie assures him that she will not leave the family when he returns. Chimney feels the same way and Maddie moves in back. Alas! our beloved couple is finally getting back together.
Bobby is looking forward to spending time with Athena. He's so cute when he's in husband mode. He's just going with the flow and supporting him. She understands why he is doing this.
Buck is attempting to impress Bobby throughout the episode but Hen oversteps him and she cannot bear to accept the news. Hen tells Bobby who will be his interim captain, but he is concerned that she would be overburdened too much. Hen says she is fine after all, and she will take her exams when she gets home.
Buck admits that he needs more life experiences but that he will make a great captain someday. Bobby, in his infinite wisdom, advises him to take a look at his life and admit shortcomings so that he may one day be content.
Athena and her parents meet up to run some errands but something happens and he drives into the house instead. The phone is immediately disconnected. What a dramatic cliffhanger, I am not sure they will go on the cruise.
Our favorite fictional first responders in Los Angeles are returning on our screens again, and we are raving about it! The episode was a great introduction to the new season and I am so excited to see what the 118 team will have to offer this week.
Bobby made the correct choice by putting Hen in charge, as he and Athena go on a cruise. I am glad that Chimney and Maddie are working on something, and Eddie does look better than when we left him in season 5.
