"It's a testament to Dick Wolf's storytelling that audiences continue to engage with them week after week, year after year."
The fans have assumed that the 22nd season will continue the same storyline and character arcs as the previous season. However, it is expected that the season will be consistent with the previous season and have at least 21 to 22 episodes with an average runtime of 44 to 45 minutes.
The viewers are hoping that this season will be much bigger than the previous 10-episode 21st season. The networks released the titles for the first five episodes, as well as the initial two synopses of the episodes, which gives an insight into the plot, which is as follows:

S22E2: Camouflage – September 29, 2022: According to the official synopsis, "A deadly subway shooting has Cosgrove and Shaw racing to discover the culprit before another attack is orchestrated; Price and Maroun struggle to put their ethical principles aside when the United States Attorney's Office pushes for the death penalty in the case."

"Nothing shows the strength of the Law & Order brand more than an ambitious three-hour event with a story that is truly ripped from the headlines that starts on Organized Crime, then switches to SVU, and finally the trial on Law & Order," said Wolf in a statement.
