The RGG Summit focused exclusively on the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise. One such developer, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, held its yearly announcement stream.
RGG Studio's executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama conducted the discussions, as well as several voice actors from the upcoming RGG studio games.
Ishin: A New Trailer and Information
Like a Dragon: Ishin! with a new extended trailer. The new teaser emphasised the Shinsengumi faction's additional characters, including new familiar faces. Saejima, Taiga, and Majima Goro, classic Yakuza figures, mercilessly slaughtered their targets while Kiryu talked upstairs.
Masayoshi stated that Like a Dragon: Ishin! will be reimagined by Kiwami, with popular characters from Yakuza 0, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon taking on roles from the original Ishin game.
RGG's samurai spin-off will be available for the first time ever in the West.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! takes place during the Bakumatsu period before the Meiji era. Kiryu takes on the role of Ryoma Sakamoto, a historical samurai who was instrumental in the defeat of Tokugawa. The release date for the game was set for February 21, 2023.
Like a Dragon 8 Revealed
RGG has released the first look at the next installment of the main Yakuza game series, titled Lika a Dragon 8. However, Kasuga Ichiban will be absent from the cast, according to Masayoshi. Kiryu appears to be different, now sporting grey hair.
RGG has stated that the gameplay for Like a Dragon 8 will be the same from the change Yakuza: Like a Dragon received, with the exception of the action brawler being changed to an action RPG. This was done due to several reasons, including the absence of the Yakuza in the mainline series as part of the narrative.
In Like a Dragon 8, Kiryu will join with Ichiban and a team of new and old characters.
Like a Dragon 8 is currently scheduled to be released in 2024.
A New Spin-Off Game Has Been Revealed
After the Like a Dragon 8 teaser we all thought RGG's next game was over. However, shortly after Yakuza 6: The Song of Life's events, they released a teaser for a new spin-off game starring Kazama Kiryu. The title of the new spin-off is Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which will feature the traditional Yakuza gameplay.
Discover what happened to Kiryu between the sixth and eighth entry in the mainline series.
The new spin-off game will cover the unknown happenings that Kiryu was up to during the time between Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Like a Dragon 8. In the teaser, Kiryu now goes by the name Joryu and is spending time at the Daidoji Temple. He interacts with two characters in the trailer, with one giving him the task of protecting an unknown individual.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, RGG has stated that the spin-off's story would be half the size of their traditional games, comparable to the DLC for Lost Judgment. The Man Who Erased His Name has no official release date, but will be released in 2023 for the last and current generation of consoles.
Steam will soon have a hearing.
RGG has announced that their detective spin-off series Judgment would be available on Steam as a post-stream incentive. This port includes Judgment, its sequel, The Kaito Files, and the story expansion The Kaito Files. Last year, SEGA wanted to port the spin-off series to Steam but was denied by actor Takuya Kimura's management agency.
As Yagami, play both Judgment games and then take a spin on the Yakuza side with Kaito in the Kaito Files.
Judgment and Lost Judgment are now available on Steam and may be purchased separately outside of the collection.
