Patrick Grahams Giants defense wilts, plays like garbage late in epic loss at Washington | If this keeps up, will this team win a game?

LANDOVER, Md. ARTICLE VIEW, md PERSONAL DISTRIBUTION - YES. Maybe put the brakes on the Patrick Graham train.

Another week, another pathetic performance from the Giants supposedly dominant defense and their presumably genius coordinator.

After all the defeats this team has suffered in recent seasons, the Giants have suffered an epic collapse: the loss of 3029 at Washington on Thursday was an all-time shocking Giant collapse.

The Giants are 0-2 yet again, and its hard to imagine them salvaging this season if their defense will wilt so badly in big places and do it against mediocre quarterbacks, no less.

Grahams defense actually collapsed. Two times. In Thursday's game, the players were late. Yes, really.

And then the defense almost got bailed out, but didnt happen, because of an insane special teams mistake from a team led by Joe Judge, aka dream.

That's exactly the result that Giants defense deserved from this bonkers game.

As time expired, Dustin Hopkins was able to score 43 yards as a field goal. Hopkins had just missed from 48, but Dexter Lawrence jumped offside and bailed him out.

After the miss, Giants players were celebrating on the sidelines already. They saw the flag fly and heard the FedEx Field crowd gasp and roar.

Lawrence will get a lot of blame, as he should. The game-winning field goal came after the Giants got a field target to go up 29-27.

And And I'm a man of genius. That's what I found very interesting about. With 4:33 left, Washington needed just two plays (and 17 seconds!) to drive 75 yards and get a touchdown.

Grahams group allowed two absurd late-game scoring drives. Inexcusable.

The 75-yard touchdown drive was particularly stunning, considering how good this defense was but hasn't been through two games.

The Giants took a 26-20 lead with 4:50 left in the game, on securing defending defender Graham Gano field goal. The Giants defense responded by grabbing two plays 56 yards catch and run down the sideline by running back J.D. McKissic, who burned linebacker Tae Crowder and a 19yard touchdown Brutal.

The big-picture numbers seem no better for Graham and his defense, a week after they made the Broncos Teddy Bridgewater look like he was 27 points and 420 yards allowed.

Despite his own success after three years, Washington earned a 407 yards on Thursday and Taylor Heinicke, whose career has been the slew of 59,9 yards, had this hard-to-believe

Graham must quickly get his defensive issues fixed. He gets the Falcons Matt Ryan next, then the Cowboys' Dak Prescott and the Ramss-based Matthew Stafford in Week 5 and 6 with the Saints and a very capable Jameis Winston in week

The Giants came to Landover to try to avoid a second 0-2 start. They had had started at least 0-2 in seven of their previous eight seasons, with 2016 the exception. In three seasons, they began worse 0-6 in 2013, 0--5 in 2017, -0-5 im 2020. The Giants were five years old since their last win season, 2016, the year the Giant won the season in September and October.

Make it 5-27 and 0-2 again.

If this defense keeps playing pathetically, there will be no end to the misfortune in sight.
