The Panther Medium Tank Prototype has been unveiled in War Thunder

The Panther Medium Tank Prototype has been unveiled in War Thunder ...

This week, War Thunder released a new, yet familiar looking tank for Germany. Gaijin had kicked off the release of shiny modern main battle tanks into high gear for the last several months. Now, it is turning its attention back to World War II era vehicles again, starting with the VK 30.02 (M) medium tank.

The VK 30.02 (M) is a completely different type of designation than the standard German ground vehicle, because it is a prototype. A vehicle of this nature would typically have a initial designation known as "Versuchskampffahrzeug" in order to participate in trials and be accepted for mass production.

The Panther is virtually indistinguishable from the VK 30.02 (M).

Despite its age, the Panther medium tank is still very well-known. Only the early "Panzergrau" grey camouflage pattern is used to paint it. In fact, most of its design features would make it to its successor, such as the 7,5 cm KwK 42 high velocity cannon.

The Panther has a few drawbacks as a result of its less armor thickness. It is less armored than the Panther's front hull armor. On the positive side, it is lighter.

In the next major update, the VK 30.02 (M) will join the German ground forces. It will be a regular vehicle completing the line between the Panzer IV and the Panther located under the medium tank tech tree.
