Plot and Cast of a Criminal Record
Criminal Record follows two detectives who meet up against each other to uncover a shocking murder conviction in present-day London. Apple TV+ describes the program as a "powerful, character-driven thriller set in the heart of contemporary London."
"An anonymous phone call leads two talented detectives to a confrontation over an old murder case, one a young lady in the early stages of her career, the other a well-connected man eager to protect his legacy," according to the official synopsis. "The series touches on issues of race, institutional failure, and the quest to find common ground in a divided Britain."
Peter Capaldi, a Scottish actor who played the Doctor from 2013 to 2017, is up against ambitious young newcomer Detective Sergeant June Lenker.
The Inbetweeners Movie, The Good Wife, and the Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood might have some familiarity with the London actor. The series is directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Jim Loach (Bad Girls, Shameless, Footballer's Wives).
Release Date for Criminal Record
Apple TV+ had announced in June 2022 that the series had begun production in London, with Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo as the lead actors. Paul Rutman will write and Jim Loach will serve as the director.
Criminal Record is currently in production in London, but there is no official release date available. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later, though, as Capaldi has revealed that he does not want to return to Doctor Who for an upcoming 60th anniversary special.
