The Sandman: Dream Country is now available on Netflix! The two-part bonus episode features actors like David Tennant, James McAvoy, Sandra Oh, and Neil Gaiman himself, as well as a live-action version of Calliope.
Hisko Hulsing, who directed the film, said, "We attempted to make the animated version of A Dream of a Thousand Cats as mesmerizing and hypnotic as we could," based on a stunning 3D animation of telepathic cats. All of the wonderful 2D animation, oil paintings, and stylizing were done at Submarine Studios in Amsterdam.
Sandra Oh as the Prophet, Rosie Day as The Tabby Kitten, Neil Gaiman as Crow/Skull Bird, James McAvoy as Don, Georgia Tennant as Laura Lynn, Michael Sheen as Marion, Nonso Anozie as Wyvern, Diane Morgan as Gryphon, and Tom Wu as Hippogriff.
Calliope is the second half of the episode. Richard Madoc is a disgruntled novelist who discovers that another writer, Erasmus Fry, has succeeded in kidnapping the Greek muse. Only Calliope has come back this time. She invokes the three groups known as the Furies or the Fates or the Three Who Are One.
Melissanthi Mahut plays Calliope, Arthur Darvill plays Richard Madoc, Nina Wadia plays Fate Mother, Souad Faress plays Fate Maiden, Kevin Harvey plays Larry, Amita Suman plays Nora, and Derek Jacobi plays Erasmus Fry.
For the second week in a row, The Sandman has been the #1 English-language program on Netflix's Top Ten. On Tuesday, Netflix reported that 196.98 million hours of The Sandman had been streamed. It looks like fans will have at least an additional hour to watch this weekend.
