Jordan Elsass will not reprise his role as Jonathan Kent in Superman & Lois for its third season. The role will now be given to someone else, according to Warner Bros. Television.
Jordan Elsass told Warner Bros. Television in a statement on Tuesday evening that he will not be returning for Season 3 of Superman & Lois due to personal reasons. Jonathan Kent will play a new person.
Elsass's departure from the show was not disclosed by the network, but sources close to the production say the departure has nothing to do with a work issue.
The story of Tiler Hoechlin and Lois Lane, a well-known journalist, takes place in the CWs Arrowverse, a universe of DC Comics characters that began with Arrow and is now expanded to include shows like The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow.
Elsass' departure comes exactly six weeks after Season 2 of the program. Insiders predict that filming for the third season will begin soon in Vancouver, but Elsass was not able to get there by the deadline.
Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions produce Superman & Lois. Greg Berlanti, Todd Helbing, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns are the executive producers of the series.
