The final season of Stranger Things will break one of the show's longest traditions ...

Every season since Stranger Things was introduced, new characters have been added to the Hawkins cast. Some, like Season 2's Bob Newby, were once-off surprises; others, like Robin, who was introduced in Season 3, are still around. However, Stranger Things Season 5 will not introduce new characters; instead, it will focus on the ones that the public already knows and loves.

Stranger Things 4 spoilers are here. Eduardo Franco as Argyle, Amybeth McNulty as Vickie, and Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna (aka One, or The Brenner Subject Formerly Named Henry Creel) were among those who survived the series' final episodes, although they were deposed by demobats.

Those new faces appear to be the last of the new faces to enter Hawkins before the final battle. No one will suddenly encounter a Hawkins resident who had never been introduced before. No random US generals or Hawkins police officers will suddenly appear.

Instead, the show's creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, said the final episodes would focus only on those who have already been on the show.

Matt Duffer said the Duffers want to keep the show fresh by adding new characters. We do this by changing the plot or introducing a new monster. This time, theyre attempting to resist the temptation to give up.

Ross Duffer explained that whenever we introduce a new character, we want to make sure that they will be an integral part of the narrative. So we were just very, very careful about who we introduced.

Stranger Things 5 would not be possible without the Duffers' permission on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Fans will just have to wait for the final season before rewatching the long-standing ones.
