The Private Division is collaborating with Weta Workshop on a Middle-Earth game ...

Private Division, the company's publishing company, has signed a contract with Weta Workshop. According to Private Division, the Wetas game division is working on a new title set in Middle-earth.

Private Division intends to launch the game, which is in early development, during its fiscal year 2024. Weta is the company behind the visual effects for the Lord of the Rings films. Last year, Unity purchased Wetas' digital tools division for $1.6 billion.

Michael Worosz, the head of Private Division, said, "We are honored to partner with Weta Workshop to produce a game set in such an extraordinary and celebrated universe." No organization is better equipped than Weta Workshop to create a distinctive, new Middle-earth gaming experience.

Weta isn't the only company with a Middle-Earth game on the horizon. A Daedalics Gollum title is on the way (if delayed) and EA has announced a mobile Lord of the Rings game, which is currently in beta.
