Dwayne Johnson fought to keep Black Adam and Shazam! ...

Since joining the project in 2014, Dwayne Johnson has been attempting to turn DC Comics Black Adam into a live-action film. Many fans have questioned why it took so long to complete the project, and Johnson has recently given an update on the film's flaws.

According to Vanity Fair, The Rock passionately spoke about his upcomingBlack Adamfilm and how Warner Bros. initially desired the villain to appear in 2019sShazam!Johnson explained that WB wanted both characters to have origin stories in one film, which inevitably sparked disagreements between the actor and the studio.

When the first draft of the film arrived, it was a mix of Black Adam and Shazam: Two origin stories in one film. Now that was the purpose, the actor expressed, it wasnt a complete surprise, but when I saw it, I just knew in my gut, We cant make this movie like this.

By including Black Adams' origin in the Shazams film, TheRedNoticestar anticipated that the film would lose its impact.

We would be doing Black Adam an incredible disservice. Shazam might have liked to have two origin stories converge in one film, but Black Adam would not.

Johnson stated that he wanted to pursue separate projects, particularly since the two characters are two of DC's biggest comic book conflicts. That feeling led him to call those involved in the original film to explain his unpopular opinion.

I said, I need to explain my thoughts here. It's very unpopular because everyone thought, Hey, this script is great, let's make this movie. I said, I think you should make Shazam!, make that film on its own in the tone you want. And I think we should separate this as well.'

It all appeared to work out fine in the end.

The sequel to Shazam!, which will be released on December 21, will be released. Also, Black Adam has finally received a release date, which will premiere on October 21.
