Tom Holland Foregoes Social Media for His Mental Health: 'I'm a spiral when I read things about me.' ...

Tom Holland has developed into one of the most powerful young actors in the movie industry, owing to his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His latest role in Spider-Man: No Way Home only propelled him to new heights, as it became the highest-grossing non-Avengers film in Marvel Cinematic Universe history.

Hollands social media presence became fairly regular throughout his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with over 75 million combined followers on his Twitter and Instagram profiles. Hes used his popularity for far more than just promoting his films, also becoming a major part of the Hollands Trust, a charitable organization that provides assistance to other charities in need.

Following the release of No Way Homes, the actor has updated followers on his future via social media.

Spider-Man's Star Leaves Social Media

Tom Holland of the MCU announced on Instagram that he has deleted his Instagram and Twitter applications from his devices.

Holland only briefly returned in a three-minute-long video to inform followers that he's staying offline in order to take care of his own mental health. He also took time during the video to promote the Stem4 Teenage Mental Health Charity and The Brothers Trust, his own charitable organization, in a bid to improve mental health for everyone.

The following caption was included by the Spider-Man actor:

"Hello and welcome...I have been taking a break from social media to focus on my mental health, but felt compelled to come on here to speak about Stem4. It's one of the many charities The Brothers Trust is very proud to support, and I'd encourage you to take the time to watch my video, and please support us in any way. "I'm glad you enjoyed it. Let's get talking about mental health again."

Holland sent the following message out of the video, stating how "overstimulating" and "overwhelming" both Twitter and Instagram can be for him, which eventually led him to delete both of them for the foreseeable future:

"Hi guys, Ive been trying to make this video for about an hour now, and for someone who has spent that much time, I'm going to try again. I find Instagram and Twitter to be overburdened, to be overwhelming, I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online, and ultimately, it's very harmful to my mental state," said the author.

Tom Holland Resigns from Spotlight

Outside of Groot actor Vin Diesel, Tom Holland has more Instagram followers than any MCU star in the last half-decade. He's risen to a new height of fame that few actors have reached, and it appears to have weighed on him.

Due to both fans and media mentioning the actors of their favorite films, it can be mentally demanding and challenging, especially in the current 24/7 environment that today's social media offers. There's also a large part of the discussion that can be negative, and celebrities like Holland can't seem to avoid making those comments every day.

Holland has just reached his 26th birthday, which should remind fans of how young he is after his six-year stint as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His close connection with Zendaya has also kept him in the public eye, and he's discussed how difficult it can be for both of them as they grow together.

The fate of whether Holland will return to social media remains to be seen, but it will be his decision to make when the opportunity arises. In the unlikely absence of his likely return as Peter Parker in the undated Spider-Man 4, the MCU star will hopefully have the opportunity to make his own life as enjoyable as he can.
