Busta Rhymes To Receive Icon Honor At 2022 BMI Rap And R&BAwards ...

The 2022 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards will be held on September 7th at the LIV Nightclub in Miami Beach, Fla., where BMI President and CEO Mike ONeill and BMI Vice President Creative Catherine Brewton will serve as cohosts.

The official press release explains the organization's intention to commemorate Rhymes while also recognizing the artists' contributions to music and beyond.

Brewton stated that his organization is honored to honor Busta Rhymes as a BMI icon. In every sense of the word, Busta is a true innovator and has had an immediate impact on countless fans and music creators around the world.

ONeill continued, expressing his appreciation for the rappers' impact through his signature delivery.

His quick wit and intricate rapping style have made him a legend, inspiring many young artists to follow his lead. Were looking forward to a fantastic night of great music.

Busta Rhymes' career began in the early 1990s with the Hip-Hop group Leaders of the New School. He later became an established artist, appearing on albums for others, before officially going solo in 1996.

Rhymes has received many awards and honors throughout his career, including six BET Awards, eight BMI Awards, a Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Award, and a Soul Train Award. He has also been nominated for 12 Grammys and 16 MTV Video Music Awards.
