After his death, Paul McCartney honors his ex-brother-in-law: He was unbeatable ...

Paul McCartney paid his respects on social media to his brother-in-law John Eastman, who died of pancreatic cancer on Tuesday at the age of 83.

Eastman was not only McCartney's late wife Linda Eastman McCartney, but also the former Beatles singers' longtime lawyer.

On Instagram, the musician paid tribute to Eastman, expressing his gratitude for his contribution to his career and saying he was a tough to beat pal.

McCartney stated that his sense of humor always shines through in everything he does.

According to a biography from New York University, Eastman had been by McCartneys side for more than 50 years, repping the artist during the Beatles' notorious breakup.

The two men obviously remained close as family despite the death of the stars' first wife, and the 80-year-old musicians' admiration for his late friend was apparent through his words:

McCartney wrote that there is a lot more that can be said about his incredible abilities, but words can't describe his passion for life and our admiration for this incredible man.

He will be greatly missed, but he will always be dear to those of us who knew and loved him.
