Mindy Kaling starred as Kelly Kapoor on the NBC sitcom The Office as a writer, executive producer, and director. She has recently explained why she would never be able to write Euphoria.
Never Have I Ever, a Netflix production created by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, was released on August 12th. Devi, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and her diverse group of pals try to navigate high school and teenagehood in Californias San Fernando Valley.
The program tackles a number of challenging real-world issues. Death, cultural differences, and broken hearts are all part of it. Its certainly more lighthearted and breezy than its more established counterparts, particularly HBOs Euphoria.Mindy stated that this is by design.
I love Euphoria, and I think [creator] Sam [Levinson] is a genius. I think he has a lot to say about things like sex, drug use, and addiction, and those are incredibly interesting, but I feel like nerds lusting over guys is more what we feel comfortable writing about, hence why we do this. We write about ambitious individuals and people who are undervalued.
Mindy and I were goody-goodies who were dorks and maybe each had a half-brother.
Devi is evidently a person who is like, I need to tick these boxes to be happy and have the life I want in the first couple seasons. She begins to realize Perhaps Im not the dorky loser that I was once, but I do have the life I always wanted right now.'
