Madame Web Movie Cast Includes A New Spider-Woman Actress

Madame Web Movie Cast Includes A New Spider-Woman Actress ...

The role of Spider-Woman was planned to be introduced in Olivia Wilde's Spider-Man spin-off centered around the character, but it appears Sony's Madame Web has different intentions for her. The film is currently filming, with plot details being buried in mystery since its announcement.

The addition of Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott to the cast have fueled speculation, particularly with little narrative information suggesting the titular character would be "looking within the spider world," leading many to wonder if other Spider-Man related heroes would appear.

The separateSpider-Womanproject, which was suspected of having some connection with Marvel Studios, was believed to follow Jessica Drew's original character.

A new article has suggested that Sony might bring a few other actors who have worn the Spider-Man mantle to the big screen.

Sony Has Finded Its Spider-Woman

The Cosmic Circus has released a new casting report for Sony'sMadame Web, revealing who several of the film's main characters will play.

Mattie Franklin is portrayed by Dakota Johnson's Cassandra Webb and Sydney Sweeney's Julia Sweeney.

Franklin was the third character to take on the mantle of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having spider-like legs similar to Tom Holland's Iron Spider suit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Isabela Merced is said to have also been cast as Anya Corazon, the titular character from the Marvel Comics. Julia Carpenter of Sweeney also appears to have spelled out the Spider-Woman on the graphic page, indicating that multiple female web-slingers will be appearing on the big screen in Madame Web.

Adam Scott and Emma Roberts round out the cast, who will play Ben Parker and Mary Parker.

The Importance of Celeste O'Connor's Spider-Woman (Explained)

Celeste O'Connor's Marvel character is essential to the Spider-Man mythos, and her participation in Madame Web is a vital clue that will inform the film's plot. In the comics, Mattie Franklin received her spider powers in an unconventional way: through a mystical ceremony known as the gathering of the five. Coincidentally, Cassandra Webb gained the power of "immortality."

Dakota Johnson's Madame Web might be dying, thus allowing her to participate in the ritual that gave her immortality. Charlotte Witter is Webb's granddaughter who became Spider-Woman as a result of Doctor Octopus.

Madame Web has recruited three Spider-Women to try and defeat her granddaughter, namely Jessica Drew, Julia Carpenter, and Mattie Franklin.

There's a possibility that a different version of Charlotte Witter may appear in the film, considering that Doctor Octopus has yet to exist in this universe (due to reports of a baby Peter Parker being involved).

Julia Carpenter from Sydney Sweeney's Spider-Girl and Celeste O'Connor's Mattie Franklin could all be recruited to defend the Parkers against Witter.

After defeating Witter, Franklin became the definitive Spider-Woman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it's unknown if the live-action character will have the same fate, it's possible that Franklin will survive the events of Madame Web, putting the stage for a bright future for the Marvel hero.

Madame Web is scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 6, 2023.
