The 74thEmmy Awards, which air onNBC and Peacock on Saturday Night Live, will feature Thompson with a lifetime of experience emceeing award shows before, including the 2021 People's Choice Awards and the 2022 NHL Awards. However, this will be Thompson's first time hosting the Emmys.

Being a member of this amazing evening in which we honor the best of the television community is ridiculously exciting and to do it on NBC, according to Deadline. I can't wait to see the stars from my favorite shows.

Per the outlet, Jen Neal, the executive vice president of Live Events for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, shared his views about the actor.

Kenan is well-known as one of the most accomplished performers of the last two decades, and his tenure onSaturday Night Live elevates for itself. We know hell bring an interest and professional to the Emmy Awards that a show of this stature deserves. Thompson will begin filming his 20th season onSNL this year, making him the best-running cast-mate on the late-night comedy show.

Ironically, Thompson has already earned six nominations. He was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Kevinanand Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series forSNL in 2021. In 2017, Thompson snagged the prestigious award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for thelate-night showsong Come Back, Barack. In 2017 he received a nomination in the same category for co-writing from the popular Jingle BarackSNLmusic video.

Kenan is getting started with receiving all of his flowers. Later this month, the comedian will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 74thEmmy Awards will air on ABC and Peacock Monday (September 12) at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
