Shogun is an upcoming American period drama television limited series written by Tom Winchester and Hiroyuki Sanada. The series is based on James Clavell's 1975 novel of the same name that will premiere on FX and is a remake of the 1980 television series of the same name.

The executive producers of Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, Michael De Luca, Michaela Clavell, Tim Van Patten, Eugene Kelly, and Ronan Bennett were announced by FX in 2018 and it is set to premiere soon on the pay television channel.

Plot and Cast of Shogun

Shogun is a tale of two ambitious men from different planets and a mysterious female samurai. John Blackthorne is a risk-taking English sailors who ends up shipwrecked in Japan, a country whose unfamiliar culture ultimately redefines him.

Lord Toranaga is a wise, powerful daimyo, teetering against his own dangerous, political opponents. The third is Lady Mariko, a woman with valuable abilities but weak familial bonds who must prove her worth and loyalty.

The main cast members include some well-known names like Cosmo Jarvis, Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, Fumi Nikaido, Hiro Kanai, Tokuma Nishioka, Nestor Carbonell, Yuki Kura, Tommy Bastow, Yoriko Doguchi, Gerardo Barcala, and Mako Fujimoto.

The release date for Shogun has been set.

The production of the series began on September 22, 2021, in Vancouver, and lasted until July 2nd, 2022, a full two months longer than expected. The series will have ten episodes.

The 10-episode limited series is produced by FX Productions.
